lead qualification

Know which leads are worth calling before you call them.

Six public signals decide whether a business is worth your time. Reading them takes five minutes a lead by hand, or you can have it done for you.

What we recommend

Qualify on evidence you can see, and cut the list before you dial.

A bought list tells you a business exists. Its website, its reviews and its hiring tell you whether it has the problem you sell against. Only the second kind of fact survives a first call.

Don't use Clinqu if: you sell to enterprise contacts by title rather than to businesses by their public footprint. Nothing here will help you.

the job, in three passes

Three passes, one list.

Run them in order. Each pass removes leads the next would waste time on.

  1. Check it is real

Working website, claimed Google profile, reviews that look like a real customer base rather than three from last year.

removes the listings that were never a business
  2. Check it fits

Right category, right size, right area. A polished business outside your vertical loses to a rough one inside it.

removes the leads you cannot actually serve
  3. Check the timing

Hiring, a second location, a site that has not moved since 2019. Something that makes this month different from last month.

leaves the leads worth a call this week

what the passes read

Six signals, nothing exotic.

Website state and mobile fitness. Review count against rating, which say different things. Claimed or unclaimed profile. Hiring and expansion. Category fit. Recent activity. All public, all free to check, and all skipped by tools that stop at collecting names.

lead qualification: questions

FAQs, answered plainly.

What are the best lead qualification criteria for B2B cold outreach?

Website presence and quality, review count vs. rating, claimed vs. unclaimed Google Business Profile, hiring and growth signals, and industry fit. No single signal is decisive, the pattern across them is. Three or more weak signals: move the lead down the list.

How do I qualify leads before calling them?

Run a five-minute check: website exists and is current, review profile read as count-plus-rating together, claimed profile, recent hiring or expansion, category fit. Freshness matters, data with a date attached beats data without one.

Why do so many cold outreach lists contain bad leads?

Because collection is cheap and qualification is work. Scrapers and databases return thousands of keyword matches; matching a keyword isn't being a good prospect. The qualification step is where most lists are never touched.

Is a 5.0 Google rating with few reviews a good or bad sign?

Context matters. 5.0 with 3 reviews usually means a young or low-traffic business with little track record. 4.6 with 200 reviews means an established business with real volume. Neither is automatically better, but the difference changes what they need and how you approach.

What does an unclaimed Google Business Profile indicate?

The business doesn't manage its own listing: a sophistication gap and a real vulnerability, since anyone can suggest edits. For agencies it's both a pain point you can solve and a natural conversation opener.
